'...a leader in the
new generation of keyboard virtuosi.'
- Cambridge Early Music
Director of Sounds Baroque, Julian
Perkins
leads a fulfilling career as a conductor, soloist, and chamber
musician. His great breadth of experience is an enormous asset; recent
projects have ranged from performances at the Royal Opera House, Covent
Garden with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, to sell-out
clavichord recitals at the St Albans International Organ Festival.
Together with his early experiences as a professional consort singer
with groups such as the Monteverdi Choir, Julian is ideally qualified
for his numerous partnerships with renowned soloists and ensembles.
After reading music at King’s College, Cambridge, Julian studied
primarily at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, the Royal Academy of
Music, and with Trevor Pinnock CBE. Awards have included the
prestigious Ian Fleming Award, Countess of Munster Trust Awards,
Leverhulme Trust Award, Finzi Scholarship, and Wingate Scholarship. He
also teaches at the Royal Academy of Music, leads courses, and writes
articles for international publications.
In March 2010, Julian was elected an Associate of the Royal Academy of
Music in recognition of his standing in the music profession.
